About this calculator

Calculate Your Exact Age - Years, Months, Days

Need to know your exact age in years, months, and days? This calculator gives you a precise breakdown - plus total days lived, hours, minutes, and seconds. Perfect for filling out official forms, planning milestone celebrations, or just satisfying curiosity.

What This Calculator Does

Enter your birth date (and optional time). The calculator returns:

  • Exact age in years, months, and days
  • Total days lived
  • Total hours, minutes, and seconds lived
  • Your next birthday countdown
  • Day of the week you were born

How Age Is Calculated

Age calculation uses the Gregorian calendar. From your birth date to today:

  1. Count full years from birth date to today.
  2. Then count full months within the current year.
  3. Then count remaining days.

Leap years and month lengths are automatically handled. The result is exact - not an approximation.

Example: Born June 15, 1990

If today is October 15, 2026:

  • Years: 36 (from 1990-06-15 to 2026-06-15)
  • Months: 4 (June 15 to October 15)
  • Days: 0
  • Total: 36 years, 4 months, 0 days

  • Calculating age at a specific past or future date (e.g., age at retirement)

The Difference Between Chronological and Biological Age

Chronological age is what this calculator gives you - the exact time since birth. Biological age refers to how old your cells and organs appear based on health markers. Biological age is influenced by diet, exercise, sleep, stress, and genetics. It may be several years higher or lower than your chronological age.

How to Use This Calculator

  1. Enter your date of birth.
  2. Optionally enter your time of birth (for exact hour calculations).
  3. Choose the "as of" date (default: today) if calculating age at a specific date.
  4. View your age breakdown instantly.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I calculate my age in days?

Multiply your age in years by 365, then add the extra days for leap years and partial months. Our calculator does this automatically and gives you the exact total.

How do I calculate age on a specific date?

Enter the target date in the "as of" field. The calculator computes your age as if that date were today.

Does my birth time matter?

Only if you need precision down to the hour. For most purposes, the date alone is sufficient.

How do I calculate age in Excel?

Use =DATEDIF(birthdate, TODAY(), "Y") for years, "YM" for months, "MD" for days. Or =YEARFRAC(birthdate, TODAY()) for a decimal age.

How do Koreans calculate age?

Traditional Korean age counts the year of birth as 1, so a baby born in December is 2 years old on January 1. South Korea officially abolished this system in 2023 for legal purposes.

What is my next birthday countdown?

Our calculator shows the exact number of days, hours, and minutes until your next birthday.
